What is INCAN AQUAYO CLOTH ?
The "Aguayo" has been a
cultural textile used by the Aymaras and Quechua people that can be traced back
1000 years to its pre-Columbian origins.
”It could be considered the
sacred cloth of the Incan civilization." The early "Aguayo"
cloth was totally made from llama and alpaca wool which were the only animals in
South America bearing wool. This
changed somewhat when the Spanish arrived in South America. The "Aguayo" is still used by the Aymaras and Quechua
people in every day life throughout the Andean region of South America. One
will regularly see women carrying their babies or personal goods to and from the
market in an "Aguayo" slung across their backs. It is also offered as an “official
gift” to government officials when public services such as running water
are installed in a village or a suburb of La Paz.
Types of Aguayos in existence today
Antique Aguayos found only in museums and private collection
Replicas of antique Aguayos that are made from natural materials and dyes. These Aguayos are very expensive and are hand made by local women
Synthetic Aguayos made from wool and cotton. These ones are machine made with synthetic dyes. They are the ones you would see regularly used by the local Andean people going about their daily lives.

The new coat design is Smokin' lined with fleece that bands out over the coat edge, snap closure on the belly and the front. Snaps have a rosette design on the heads. The colors are just vibrant, the workmanship is impeccable, with great attention to detail.
These measurements are taken: from the base of the neck, extending over the back to the base of the tail. Please measure your hound before ordering.
